Who we are and what we do

We are a group of senior/junior researchers and Ph.D. students from Universitat Jaume I, Castelló, in Spain. Our aim is to investigate Semantics from a contrastive and applied perspective. At present, the contrastive focus falls on English and Spanish. The applied perspective focuses, on the one hand, on metaphor in the social world, delving into relevant research areas such as discourse analysis or multimodality, and on the other hand, on developing pedagogical applications for EFL, with special emphasis on the learning and acquisition of vocabulary, polysemy, and metaphor. We welcome Ph.D. and post-doc students from all around the world who wish to develop their research career within metaphor studies.
